Starting the New Year Organised, Calm, and Ready!

It’s nearly time to start making those New Year’s Resolutions!

While a lot of people will focus on the usual things, like quitting smoking, eating healthier, or spending more time with family, we think that focusing on something else will make all of those things easier… Getting organised!

When things get lost or you can’t find them quickly, you get stressed, and what’s the first thing you do when you’re stressed? Light a cigarette, eat a tub of ice cream, or snap at loved ones.

Here are a couple of simple ways to stay organised at home or the office that will keep you calm and able to focus on achieving those important resolutions by 2017!

Give everything a home

How much of 2015 do you think you spent looking for your keys? Or the salad spoons? Or your child’s favourite toy that they just can’t sleep without? What if those things were always in the same place? To make sure the whole household knows where things go, label the shelf or drawer that they’re in. It also works as a memory trigger for those special items that have been put in a place so safe that you can’t remember where it is.

File it away

Workplaces have been on top of this for years, but filing isn’t only a good idea for the office. Using a filing system at home can save you headaches later when you need to find that receipt, form, or flight information from months ago.

Take time to plan

Sometimes you just need to take an hour to plan out your week and get it all down. Once you’ve got a list of all the important things you need to do, you don’t need to spend precious time worrying about forgetting something. A great diary is perfect to relieve that anxiety on a personal or professional scale.

No more lost property

Iron on labels make school uniforms stick around longer. Even if your child’s school jumper finds its way to the lost property bin, it’ll be easy to have it returned to its rightful owner. It even works with dance costumes, sports uniforms, or supplied work clothes. No more worrying about buying extra accessories or clothes every second week!

Don’t be a ‘weekend warrior’

Saving up all your organisational tasks for the weekend, like cleaning, washing, or errands, is only going to end up making you feel overwhelmed and unmotivated. Try to knock the little ones off during the week if you can. That way, when you finally reach the weekend, you can kick back and relax with your family and friends.

DymoKing has lots of products that can help you start 2016 with an organised space and calm mind. Use a LetraTag label printer for making sure everything has a home, iron-on labels to conquer the lost property bin, and a LabelWriter or LabelManager for keeping all your documents in the right files. From everyone at DymoKing, have a very Merry Christmas and a New Year with no stress!
